Resentment and unresolved issues from the past is the fuel for our addictions. These things cause the pain that we constantly try to medicate through acting out.

this is right on with the steps required before you can truly forgive really deep hurts. also, as an addict, the practice of simply feeling my feelings is crucial to recovery in addition to forgiveness.
