Wow, what an amazing post. I have noticed that many people in the world purposely try to hide their pain. Its almost as if they are asleep. Its like we had to fall into sex addiction in order to begin to wake up to the pain we were and still are feeling. Its that crying we do when we are all alone or with someone who cares that begins to take us out of the darkness and when we raise ourselves out of the darkness we can be fixed and maybe even start fixing the world around us.
learning to mourn....how does one do that. the way you explain mourning makes total sense. but how do we learn to do it?

There have been whole books written on the topic so I don't want to pretend to be an expert, but here is a great page that outlines the basic stages of grief: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stages_of_grief
I think if you don't shortcut those stages and make sure you're progressing through each one, you'll see progress. I also recommend "Healing the Child Within" By Charles Whitfield for more detail on working through grief in a recovery context.
